Despite a rainy day, the spirit of learning and celebration remained unwavering as students, parents, teachers, and community members gathered in Khulna for the Grameenphone-Bishwo Shahitto Kendro (BSK) Book Reading Award Ceremony 2026 on 7 August. The event celebrated not only academic achievement but also the transformative power of reading in shaping confident, informed, and future-ready young individuals.
A total of 3,269 students from 46 schools across the Khulna region were recognized for their dedication to reading and continuous learning. Their achievements reflect the positive impact of fostering a culture where books inspire curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong pursuit of knowledge.
Beyond recognizing young readers, the program reinforced the importance of navigating the digital world safely and responsibly. A dedicated Online Safety Corner served as an interactive platform where parents, teachers, visitors, and media representatives engaged in meaningful discussions on online safety, digital well-being, and responsible internet use. The initiative highlighted the shared role of families, educators, and communities in helping children develop healthy digital habits and make informed choices online.
The enthusiastic participation and appreciation received from stakeholders demonstrated the growing importance of combining literacy development with digital awareness. As young people increasingly engage with technology for education and communication, equipping them with both reading skills and digital resilience is essential for their success in the modern world.
Through initiatives such as the Book Reading Program, Grameenphone continues to contribute to creating opportunities for learning, encouraging responsible digital citizenship, and empowering the next generation with the knowledge and confidence needed to thrive in an increasingly connected society.
