Friday morning started with a grand celebration of knowledge and achievement at Bangla Academy ground
The spirit of learning and excellence shone brightly at Bangla Academy as the winners of the National Book Reading Program gathered to celebrate their remarkable achievement. Organized by Bishwo Shahitto Kendro with the steadfast support of Grameenphone, this prestigious event honored talented students from various schools across Dhaka. Grameenphone has proudly been associated with this noble initiative for an incredible 21 years, fostering a culture of reading and intellectual growth.
It was a rare and heartwarming moment, an opportunity to witness the spark of knowledge lighting up young minds. 5,094 enthusiastic readers from 65 schools of Dhaka city were awarded in this program. Among them were 1,157 boys and 3,937 girls, each proving their dedication to the world of books.
To honor their achievements, a vibrant two-day award ceremony was arranged in collaboration with Grameenphone at the esteemed Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy. The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished personalities, including Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed (Founder Chairman & CEO, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro), Badiul Alam Majumdar (Founder Secretary, Citizens for Good Governance (SHUJAN), Siddiqur Zobair (Senior Secretary, Secondary & Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education), Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya (Economist & Public Policy Analyst), Jewel Aich (famous Magician, Flautist and Artist), Professor Muhammad Ali Naqi (Trustee of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro), Shamim Al Mamun (Director, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro) and Tanvir Mohammad (Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Grameenphone).
Since 2004, Grameenphone has played a pivotal role in supporting Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, nurturing the reading habits of young minds across Bangladesh. Over the years, with Grameenphone’s unwavering support, the program has rewarded over 200,000 students for their passion for books! This initiative goes beyond recognition; it plants the seeds of lifelong learning in the youth - a crucial step in preparing them to acquire knowledge, brighter and more enlightened tomorrow.
